Hi,

I found have it does help because you can talk to your potential clients, for example if you can actually talk to the buyer you can pursuade them to make the purchase.

Some people might leave the site instead of sending an email but if you are talking to them you can answer their questions and keep them on the site. Therefor increasing the chance they will purchase something.

If you don\\\'t have toll free number for the support, then try to have ICQ, AIM, MSN support.

Making it easy for potential clients to contact you is the key.  Whether it is through chat, email, 800 number, or any other means, you want it to be simple for someone who wants your services to contact you.

It will definitely help if you can keep someone to monitor the livehelp during office hours. But many potential customers feel uncomfortable when they see it offline. It is definitely not a good idea for one man hosts as they won\\\'t be able to monitor it continuously. You have to make sure that you have someone to answer while using live chat. Many people are totally put off seeing live help offline.

Live Support is a definite plus to your customers. They might have a quick question and giving them the ability to ask it real-time will definitely score a lot of points.

There is a certain market segment that likes livechat support very much. If you can attract them than it will pay off well for you in both happy customers and increased sales. It does have to be quick. If you\\\'re going to grow to any significant size than you cannot use AIM/ICQ/MSN/etc because it doesn\\\'t offer any sort of client control. Liveperson is the only commercial grade product that we\\\'ve seen for this market so far.

I think having Live Chat Support adds a proffesional appeal. We have been using Live Chat for quite awhile, And it has shown quite effective for us. I also feel that it gives the customer security to know that he can go on the web host site, and talk to a representative daily.

I think if you can keep it online most of the time it is a good idea. But if visitors see it offline it dose not create a good image. I have used it and found it dose make a difference if people have a question they seem more lightly to use Live chat then fill out a fourm or send an email and wait for a responce when they could get one instantly.

Hi!
Speaking from Experience, I have to agree with NSUSA. For the last three months..I have been doing tech support overnight for several clients. It does impress some clients when they submit a ticket at 3AM...and have a response at 3:07AM..but I don\\\'t think that helps new sales...it helps with customer retention and existing customer satisfaction. I offered to do presales...but only did two chats in the entire period presales.

I hate chat..and no longer offer any of it. No...if you have a decent helpdesk and have decent response times...that\\\'s really all you need. I don\\\'t think it has to be 24/7 either..especially if you are starting out. I think a toll-free number is a big waste of $$$....but then...that\\\'s my opinion.

I think with the help of live support we can fastly resolve the clients
query which will definately help in increasing sales margin & will create
a good reputation in the community.
Call center is a good example of live support.

you can chat Live with your customer  to provide assistance & information about your product  & convince for your product. Live chat  service is very helpful for online business. & giving positive results.

You can try www.live2support.com , very good hosted live chat software for websites to promote sales. Very cheap(starts at 8.99 USD) in comparision to other services. support also matters. you can easily customize visitor window look according to your website.

Hi there,

Just thought I\'d add another post to this thread as I have had some first hand experience.

The last two weeks before taking our web site down for re-construction we did not use live support as we were setting up and configuring the new software (eSupport, LiveResponse, ModernBill) and we did receive some comments about it being offline, so I think it definitely does help your current customers. We didn\'t notice a slow down in sales during that period though, but since we\'re a new company and our sales are in such small numbers as it is, it\'s hard to say. We got 3 sale during this period compared ti 3 the two weeks before that, but only 2 the two weeks before that, so it didn\'t seem to make any difference.
