PPC marketing is a simple formula.  You determine what you can afford to generate an new customer or sell a product.   You test PPC. You try different copy to get the best results.  Then you determine if the cost spent is more or less then you can afford to get a new customers or sell a product.

Most important, you have to track your RO.

Good Luck,
Fred

quote:Unlike other forms of search engine marketing, PPC is agreeable to all parties. While SEO through tweaking HTML and exploiting loopholes in algorithms is seen by search engines as destructive and damaging, PPC is seen as supportive and healthy. There would be no PPC on any engine if it weren\'t for the unpaid results. This is just malarky trying to sell PPC with misleading info! I agree spam is seen as such but this statement seems to say SE see all SEO as spam! I also wonder why he chose to compare PPC effectiveness to banners instead of organic SEO.

I believe what T is getting at is that there are more options than just these two:PPCSEO through tweaking HTML and exploiting loopholes in algorithmsThere are at least two more:SEO through building and positioning a better Web site for humansNo PPC or SEO of any kindYes, Allan that is what I meant. But what really ticks me is that he seemed to be saying SE see **all SEO** as spam and that just isn\'t true in fact it isn\'t even close to true. IMHO, this statement is especially misleading:
\"While SEO through tweaking HTML and exploiting loopholes in algorithms is seen by search engines as destructive and damaging.\" I can\'t believe that Ammon really thinks that is a true statement.

Oh my. I have to agree with the above, that statement is extremely misleading. I\'m sure Ammon really did not mean what he wrote. At least I hope not.

All parties? No Way. If the majority of searchers were \"in the know\" about what the heck those listings were/are, they would ignore them. No doubt about that. PPC marketing relies on the ignorance of the common joesmoe out there. Oh sure, many of us will click on those listings, not because we do not know what they are, but because of what we may be looking for as PPC listings \'can\' be more relevant at times. In most cases, the average user has zero clue as to what ppc is and would not click if they did know. ...  banner ads?

Supportive and healthy? No way. Look at the bedbuddy partnership of OVerture and Gator? Is that healthy? I don\'t think so! Look at fraud; Is that healthy or supportive? I don\'t think so!

To even put ppc in with SEO is simply NOT right and I take offense to the comparisons being made out there. Many use this to claim they are a SEO when in fact, all they do is buy \'paid ads\' for clients and claim it\'s SEO.

Believe me, Many people have told me that the many conferences around the country and the world are turning into a medium for the Big Advertising Agencies out there. That\'s what these conferences are these days. .... a way to advertise their wares.

And NO way do search engines view some of us as \"exploiting\" anything. In fact, they welcome us.
